Can anyone identify these mystery speakers???

I've aquired a pair of mystery speakers, they once belonged to my girlfriends grandparents, and havent been used in quite a long time. they dont have any brand info anywhere on them, there also assembled with robertson screws, which seems strange, the caps inside also say british made. they have really solid cabinets, and weigh around 30 pounds each. any ideas?

The woofer's a Philips, that's about all I can tell you. It looks pretty nice.

Your(?) cat appears to be as inquisitive as ours are around speakers/novel hifi gear.
 
the woofers apear to have had the surrounds replaced at least once, and all drivers apear to have replaced dust caps, would you have any idea about the date or specs im lookin at for this driver?

and the cat is always involved in anything, he had his paw in the speaker box when i went to get more batteries for the camera.
 
i've found an old pair of PSB's on ebay that had a similar octagon driver bracket, could these be PSB aswell?
 
In my experience you never have to replace surrounds on a Philips woofer of this type(with a slight reservation for the early AD8060 that has a natural rubber surround-can easily be separated from the rest since the surround is wider and thicker-that can harden with time).It has a synthetic rubber surround of very high quality,that almost not changes with time.Last year I did some tests on 6-7 of these and found that the resonance frequency had not changed.

hmmm, on closer inspection, the surrounds on the woofers could be original, there is some shiney glue lookin stuff on a few areas of the suround, this is what led me to belive they might be replacements, but it looks like it could just be dabs of sealent on tiny cracks.

thanks for all the info guys, would anyone know if PSB used british made caps back in the day?
