can i change the cardridge on an auna tt play turntable?

Looks easy enough, but you will need an alignment protractor to mount the new cartridge.

On second thought I'm not seeing any means to adjust VTF, no adjustable counterweight.

Yeah it has a spring counterweight. So the new cardrige must match the weight of the old one. Are there better ceramic cardridges out there or is this only for magnetig cardridges? Because i only heard about professional magnetic cardridges.

That isn't designed to be changed to anything else. Those screws and slots at the cartridge are more for show as it's not adjustable. If you can change the cartridge to something different any compensation for tracking force would have to be done by adding weight to one end or the other of the tonearm.

That "cerapreme" stylus might be worth a shot I guess. The cartridge that us on it now looks like ones I see on eBay for about $1.49.

yes i could but my Intention was to get better Audio Quality by changing to an better cardridge. yes i would improve the Audio just by changing the Stylus (Needle) with this here:

https://www.lpgear.com/product/LPGCERAPREMEBL.html

the maunal says that the cardridge and Stylus has a weight of 2 grams. so i just have to use cardridges with a weight of 2 grams. No the screws aren`t Show the manufacturer of the turntable also sells cardrige replacements if the cardridge should get broken.. So the Thing is, the cardridges work in a range of trackforce. aslong im in that range everything should be fine. i will buy a trackingscale and a cardridge an will test if i get it to work within the range of the rewcommendet trackingforce of that particular cardridge.

I'm sure it's not what you want to hear, but I would either leave it alone and use it as it is, or get the upgraded stylus. If you really want something worth upgrading, I'd watch for a better turntable.

If you are looking for a better modern production ceramic cartridge, there really aren't any to speak of. They are all mediocre at best. Changing to a better magnetic cartridge, or actually any other cartridge besides the one that it was designed for, isn't going to happen without modifications, likely major. Plus there's the fact that a preamp would need to be added between the cartridge and amplifier if you go with a magnetic cartridge.

Also, the weight of the cartridge/stylus assembly is NOT 2 grams. There probably aren't ANY cartridges that are that light. The tracking force MIGHT be set at 2 grams, although I highly doubt it. That type of cartridge is not known to track that light.

Ok thanks for the info. Why do i need a pre amp? Its already included in these players. There is only a line out so the signal is preamplified. There is one player where you can turn off the integrated preamp but mine doesnt have this turn off switch. I mean you can switch between phono no amplified and line out preamplified.

There is the cardridge. What would happen if i just use an MM cardridge?

A preamp compatible with a MM cartridge is NOT included in that turntable.

If you just add a MM cartridge, you will get very little sound even at full volume because a MM cartridge only puts out a small fraction of the output voltage that a ceramic does. That's part of the reason why a preamp is needed.

Thats really confusing. I thought i understand everything. A preamp makes a phono signal to a line signal and the line signal goes in the amplifier. You say i shall put that line signal into ano5her preamp. I never saw a preamp on the market who is for ceramic or megnetic cartridges only for amplifie the phono signal to an line signal.

I believe this perticular record player has also an amplifier included.

You obviously don't understand everything, yet.

A ceramic cartridge DOES NOT put out a phono level signal like a MM cartridge. It's output is WAY HIGHER, roughly the same as line level. That's why you've never seen a preamp for a ceramic cartridge. That's also part of the reason why cheap phonos use ceramic cartridges. Less circuitry needed.

As I said, that turntable DOES NOT have a preamp built in that will support a MM cartridge. Period. It DOES have a built in amplifier designed for a ceramic cartridge. It's line output is either coming directly from the cartridge, or it may have some basic circuitry added to make the equalization more correct, as ceramics often sound tinny when connected directly to a regular AUX input.

ok but ist not the Problem to buy a preamp. the only Thing is that i have to meassure the trackingforce and the weight of the cardridge and try to find a better Quality one with the same weight and trackingforce. Why should i not try to get the most Quality out of this Player. And the turntable wasnt that cheap. i paid 99.99 and the next expansive one for 139.99 has a counterweight antiskate preamp and mm cardridge. you can also Switch between phone and line. But before i buy this i buy an amplifier and good boxes and try to get the most out of this turnable and then eventually i buy the better one.

OP your setup has severe limitations and changing anything out would be a waste of time/money, also the next step up system for $139.99 isn't much better. Not to insult but you are in Crosley territory, advise you do some extensive reading on AK to learn about turntables/speakers/amplifiers before you spend any more money.

$99 is pretty cheap for a new turntable. Audio Technica sells a $99 table and you can’t change the cartridge on that either. Why spend more money on this one before you buy a better one? Just buy a better one and save the money. This one obviously isn’t made to be modified.
