I've recently come into a couple of Altec A7 cabinets (416-8A, H-811B, 807-8A,Crossovers are N801-8A).
I got the 501-8A crossovers off of Ebay thinking I would also eventually get the 511B horns as well. My question is, can I install the 501-8A crossover to replace the N801-8A crossovers and what would I gain? Would it hurt anything? Do the 511B horns themselves make that much difference? I just feel that sometimes these are too bright the way the are now and if I could improve that I will. Thanks guys! :scratch2:

This would lower the crossover frequency to 500 Hz. You don't want to do that, until you have horns and drivers that are rated go that low. You might blow the HF driver.
