Can I safely run two pairs of Cerwin Vega's

I have a Pioneer SX-1250 and I have an opportunity to pick up some Cerwin Vega D7's and D9's. I've seen official spec sheets on all the D series CV's posted here and elsewhere, which shows nominal impedance to be 8 ohms. But I've also seen specs stating nominal is 4 ohms. Cerwin Vega's own website states that this rating only means that at some point(s) during testing the output throughout the listening spectrum that 4 ohms of impedance occurred, however briefly. I know my receiver is rated down to 4 ohms but I'm concerned that if I drive both A and B together I'll overheat the amps. Any thoughts?

I always thought they were 6 ohm speakers so running both would be pushing the receiver some.

If it gets hotter than normal not a good sign.

I'd be careful starting out to see how much hotter it runs. I know the 1250's normally run pretty warm to begin with.
 
I ran with two pairs of D-9's at one point. I sold both pairs to a friend who now runs them together. I had a Pioneer SX-1050 with a broken preamp section that I bought for $10 and I gave it to my friend to use. My friend now runs a 90's Yamaha receiver as a preamp and the SX-1050 as a dedicated amp to power all 4 D-9's.

It runs very well all things considered. Given the party volumes we've run at, and the fact that the SX-1250 is more powerful than the SX-1050, you should really be good to go.
 
D7's + D9's + SX-1250 = Damn!

Like slow jazz says, run it a while and see how the 1250 does. If the amp is under stress you will be able to tell from the heat it is dispersing. Keep an eye on it and be cautious until you know how it is going to react to the load from the 4 CV's. My gut feeling is that unless you listed to insane volume levels, it will be fine.

I'm thinkin the high sensitivity of those models means the receiver's amp section won't have to work very hard. If you wanted to hook up a pair of 4 ohm vintage Infinities I'd say get good ventilation in the room because there will be smoke.
 
I run 1 pair of HPM150's and 1 pair of Genesis 210's with my SX1250 Pioneer . The receiver sees 3.4 Ohms . I will only go to about 1/4 volume with both sets of speakers running . Receiver does not seem to get very warm . If I decide to play at louder levels , I will diengage 1 set of speakers .

That all being said , I have read that the SX1250 does not like to see lower Ohm loads . I have been doing this for over a year now with no problems .

I appreciate all the good feedback peeps, thanks. So what I think I'm hearing is definitely maybe. I never thought of boosting the external cooling with a nice quite fan, hmmm.

To "reverb" yeah buddy! I throw good sized pool/BBQ/horseshoe parties and the system gets to stretch its legs a bit. I was running Cerwin Vega VS-120's with JBL CF-120's stacked on top (not the best but you can definitely hear em in the back yard) but one of the JBL's vibrated off and pancaked onto the floor...oops!

And yes, insane levels indeed! Why else would I be wanting (yearning for) all four of these at once!

BTW: the guy is selling them for $85.00 per speaker, good price for the D9's around here (Tampa bay area) avg for the D7's, hoping he'll take $280.00 for all.
 
In the SX-1250, the light-bulb in the tuner should act as a good warning light. It will dim when the power-supply is being pushed near it's limits.
