Can I Split HDMI ARC

Hi,

I have 3 soundbars with HDMI ARC inputs. I need to connect these 3 to one HDMI ARC input source. I do not have much knowledge in handling ARC though I have done normal HDMI splitting for normal TVs.

Question:

1) Are there any HDMI ARC 1 to 2 or 1 to 4 HDMI ARC splitters in the market?

2) Will ARC input work with normal HDMI splitter and give ARC outputs? (Will the Feedback signal cause issues)?

3) Are there any audio extractor with ARC input and (ARC + Optical + R/L) output?


I know optical solution is possible but just curious on HDMI solution on connecting multiple soundbars.

Should be fine, ARC has been implemented since 2009 or so with HDMI 1.4. ARC is just the Audio Return Channel -- anything that supports HDMI 1.4 is fine with it, so a splitter shouldn't affect anything any more here than the splitter you previously used did. Cheers.

I don't believe it's that simple. Remember that ARC travels in the reverse direction of the regular HDMI signal, so a standard splitter won't work.

I'm a little unclear on what OP is trying to do. Why would you want to use one video source with three different sound bars?

To answer your third question, yes there are ARC digital audio extractors.

I don't know if data transfer rates will matter but here's a chart of the data rates.

Try it and see what happens. Shouldn’t hurt and it might work.
