Can someone explain how to hook up aux to Mac 1900

I’m having a hard time figuring out why I can get my computer/iPhone/ipad to play on my Mac 1900. I read on a different thread, that you can hook the rca jacks to the tape in connection. However, there is only 1 input for tape 1 and one for tape 2…. So I can’t plug left and right in at the same time. I tried just the right input to see if it would work but no sound. Do I need to also have a DAC? I’m only using an rca to lightening cable. Do I need a Y cable to go into the single input of tape 1 or 2 and have to listen in mono?
If someone could please explain the solution that would be really appreciated.

Choose tape monitor #2 and just pull out both filler plugs top and bottom. The top and bottom jacks are left and right. Make sure the tape 2 monitor button is pushed on the front of the unit.

The pictures might have been taken just to be able to get the camera shot of the rear but make sure your speakers are also connected to the "Main" speaker outputs and turned on via main speaker button on front panel.

You don't need to also have a DAC as that has nothing to do with your current connection issue.

Once you get that sorted out a good DAC will sound better then the DAC in your computer/iPhone/ipad

It seems that this particular unit only has tape 1 and tape 2, phono 1 and phono 2 so tape 1 or 2 has to be used. Not quite sure what that other input or output is for. I haven't seen the manual.

TP1 and TP2 are for one of the MPI units. I've always kinda wanted one for no good reason.
