Can the tape out go in a 2nd amp?

Hi Gang,Hope every ones well.
I have a optimus sa-155(great lil buger) that i use for my pc sound on my desk.I recently aquired a 5" powered sub from a logicteck 2.1 pc speaker system.The sa-155 is 8 ohms the sub is 4 ohms would it matter or harm my sa-155 using the tape outs into the powered sub.My sa-15 means alot to me so i wouldent wana hurt it.

Yes it would work but the volume would be fixed. The signal from the tape connectors is a fixed level signal.
 
Not into a straight amplifier, you would have no control over the volume.

You could use an integrated amplifier, but that may be impractical unless you were setting up a remote zone.
 
The you have to adjust the sub volume every time you adjust the main volume, you will get tired of this very quickly.
Save your time, money and computer speakers until you get better equipment.
 
Looks like the sa-155 has a phone jack on the front. You could probably get a cord with phone jack on one end and rca on the other and plug them into your sub, unless plugging in to the phone jack disables the rear speaker jacks.

Just a thought!
 
@rpampt, ya headphone jack will disable main outs.

@ wmgwizard,All i wana do is add a lil more low end bass to my pc -=as to pc speakers(the 2.1's) they were cheap enough and the satelites sound like crap in a tin can,and imo the sa-155 is a Great lil amp for my use w/ min7's for my pc

all i was concerend about really was the diffrence in the ohms so i dont stress/damage my sa-155 -
 
I run a very similar setup to this on a PC now. Since the PC is the source I have both amps gain set on to my maximum volume that I use and then my PC goes to my Onkyo receiver. With no pre-outs I feed the tape out to my dbx box that sends a stereo signal to my main's amp and sends a mono signal to my sub amp. With my PC controlling the volume it works great.
 
Agreed! With the PC controlling the levels you would need to set the individual levels only once and use the PC for all level changes after that.
 
I have that same set up in my shop, and yes you will have to adjust the sub every time you turn it up or down, but it will work fine. It actually works very well, because I can pull the lows out of the tops and get better mid’s and let the sub pick up the low end.
In my shop I generally don’t turn anything up or down so I really don’t have to do much.

But yes, it will work.
 
went ahead and de-soldered the speakers in the satelites ,usin the tape out into the sub -ads more bass wich is what i wanted,had to keep the right satelite in reach to use the volume /power but from what i googled the tape out can go in to what ever i want and the 2.1 system had no info any restrections on what you can use for a source so for the 6 bucks i spent im gettin more bass and am happy.:music:
ps:picked up a 2nd for same 6 bucks for if and when the 1st frys
