Can the Yamaha M60 be used as a monoblock to power subs?

Hey guys! I have a Yamaha M60 power amp, a C85 pre, an a pair of Energy C7 speaks. I want to add a subwoofer to the mix. I currently have my M60 powering the speakers directly, bypassing the preamp as my Asus Essence ST sound card is doing the work. Its a really good "audiophile" sound card, probably one of the best on the market. The analog outputs are VERY clean, better than the DAC of my Harman/Kardon AVR 125 receiver even. Anywho, I want to add a subwoofer to the mix and I was going to try to plug the woofer into the M60 and use the C85 as a sort of crossover (use the parametric equalizer to kill all but the lows) and plug the C7s as the front channels into my receiver and then populate the rest of the 5.1 setup. Would this be a good idea? What would be the best way to wire the sub to the amp? Just plug it into one channel? Or run it parallel across both channels?

Does the C85 have phase inverted outputs? I know some Yamaha pre's do. If so, just hook one interconnect in phase, the other +180 out of phase, hook these to the + and - on the amp, and then use both the + speaker terminals to your sub's + and - posts. Usually not needed, but if the two - terminals on the amp are not on a common ground you may need to connect them to each other.

Edit: the explanation above can be used to bridge two stereo amps into two mono amps (using all 4 of the in phase and out of phase RCA connections). Sense you only need one channel for the sub, you will only use one channel of the pre.

I believe this amp can handle a 4ohm load? In any case you will find out because it going to be putting out about 2-4 times the watts into 4 ohms.

If the C85 does not invert, I believe ESP has a great circuit design you can use to invert the phase from a pre.

PS: I have an ASUS STX, agree these are great cards!

C-70/80/85 all have inverted pre-outs.

I've bridged M-80's in the past with great success. AFAIK, the M-60 should be no different in design.
