Wao, a paperwork of the F serie and a body without needle stylus. This might confirm what I thought, the brown G1were early models closer to the F1+ than to the black G1+.

Unfortunately, this photo from E-Bay is not a good one but is a paperwork of the G serie.

so to answer my questions...........which you didn't...............obvious you don't know the difference.
Here are a black coil cover G1+, and probably the 1st time you've seen the pewter coil cover G1+ . other than color of plastic and coil covers, what else is different between these two?

here's another model series with "odd" color body, and pewter coil cover example. Both are brown bodied Z2+ examples. Most of the Z series were black bodies, including the other two versions of the Z 1/Z2 carts. The flash kinda bleaches things out. the Z2 mounted in the AR headshell has a gold coil cover

My brown body / gold cover Z+ with amazing .2x.7 nude / titanium cant'r, retip by Joseph. Both of my M+ p-mounts have brown bodies / gold covers as well.

Being available in twoo colors began with the F1+. I've had both of those G1+ bodies. Where are the 2 other ones you mentioned ? Do they exist or are they different only because of P-Mount and standard Mount Apart the fact that brown G1+ is going dust to dust, the only interesting differences between G1+ bodies is that some had copper coils, other silver plated coils.

Please remember you make your living from restoring AR turntables (why ?) and selling Grado bodies of cart. I just enjoy listening to music and have destroyed pianos for 35 years. You watch with your eyes, I listen with my hears. But we all know that Joe GRADO never designed a good cartridge. Len's are so much better in... the same bodies.

BTW, could you please let me know the difference between a G1+ and a M1+ stylus ? Because someone could mount a G2 stylus on a Z2.

It has been over 2 years now. Unfortunately Marc is not here anymore and this was left not answered.

Do anybody know the difference between both black and brown G1+ bodies?

I have both now and I am really curious to know.

I'm pretty sure the black (actually a really dark brown) coil cover version had really high compliance for a Grado. Up round 35cu whereas all the usual Grados are between 20 and 25. That's what I remember about those dark brown versions anyway.

Ok so if it is only the compliance it as to do with the stylus and therefore if I use a 8MZ stylus it won't make much difference between these bodies.

As far as I know, the difference is that the brown body G1/2+ have copper coils, the later black G1/2+ has silver.
I believe both are very high compliance when used with original styli.
My brown body G1+ [with original stylus] does an extravagant version of the "Grado dance" on medium mass arms.

Humm.. My black body is from 79 and the brown one from 81.

That's according to the date codes?
If so I'm surprised.

My brown body G1/2+ is from November 1979.
And as it just so happens, I was there when a friend bought it early in 1980.
She rarely used it and sent me the turntable it was mounted on maybe 10 years ago.

I have a G2+...with gold dot stylus.
The G1+ from that period was black bodied and had a yellow dot stylus.

Sorry, I was confused as the later G+ versions had black bodies.
I believe those have silver coils.
I doubt there's much difference between the earlier G1+ and the G2+.

Yes the black code is 1079 (Oct 79) and the brown is 981 (Sept 81). Unfortunatly the black is fixed to a headshell and forgot to take a picture. Here is a picture of the brown one.

Correct, the stylus that came with it has yellow dots.

The brown's stylus also had yellow dots but the plate was brown.

The Black body have silver coils indeed. It is difficult to see on the brown body as it is completely filled with puttey.

Here's my NOS black/black. January 1980. I had another black/black but one of the coils went bad. I took the ANOS stylus out of it and sent the body to Joseph to see if he could fix it. He couldn't. So I let him keep the body to use as a fixture for looking at Grado styli under his microscope. I have several brown/gold G1+ and G2+ here in the stash too. I'll have to dig those out for some photos.
