can we start a jbl sub?

ive been a jbl fan since college. ive had a few pairs of garage speakers from them. i just love their sound.
my humble l890s are the best ive had so far. l100s one day...
sooo, how about posting a pic of yours.
here's mine. not a great pic but im not much of a photographer, lol.

l890 towers, l8400 subs. driven by 2 audiosource model 3s vertically bi-amped.
jbl sdp3 pre. lg v50 source.
ifi zen streamer on the way as soon as i can procure the treasurer's approval.

I doubt you be impressed with L-100's, compared to your setup

L150, L100T (t3 crossovers), 4412, and Studio 590

Not pictured are 2x Dayton Ultimax 15" subwoofers in sealed cabinets, the right sub is behind the speakers in the pic. I also have a pair of JBL L5 speakers that are being put to use in the Home Theater at the moment.

They sound great overall. Different pros and cons compared to the older models. The area where they excel the most is the top-end, which is very open and airy, without being harsh at all. It's a bit bright overall compared to the other JBLs that I have. The Mid-bass is also amazing. The dual 8" woofers really get it done in that respect. On the other hand, the mid-range seems just a little bit thin to me. They also don't do low-frequency bass as well as the older JBL floorstanders with 12" woofers. For example, the 590 begins a shallow roll-off below about 69Hz, whereas the L150 has a bass peak that extends down to 40-45hz before it begins to roll off. The 590s do put out good bass though overall, and pair well with subwoofers.

yes they do. they're 25lbs. no particular reason other than they were handy. you'll notice it right off the bat. takes some getting used to. bass will sound flatter and more taut but more informative maybe.
im always surprised how much is there when i walk to another part of the house and find out its much louder even.

I know some people that put weight on everything. Speakers, amps, their CD player...

I agree some really big cabs like Altec 828 can benefit from some mass loading. But bracing helps more IMO

Ok - Still working at cleaning out some excess in the living room, but here is my speaker stash. Center pair are Altec Valencias that were badged and sold by Heath(kit).
Next out is a pair of teak JBL L212 towers. Behind them are a pair of Von Schweikert VR-4s, and on the far left is a pair of Walnut JBL 212s with an M&K Volkswoofer stashed on top.
Long term plan is to horizontally align and stack the JBL 212s. Later.
Oh - the Heath/Altecs are customized with a pair of Great Heil tweeters on top, and a pair of Altec Bass Enhancers on the back to push the bottom end.

I have granite tiles on top, back and bottom of the Heaths for mass loading to lower the bottom end.
The cabinets have double wall construction and don't need further internal bracing.
