Can you guys help me identify this old Grado Cartridge?

Hey, I was wondering if you guys can help me identify this cartridge and what replacement stylus I can get for it. It came with a Technics SL1700 but I cant find any info on it. It says x2 + but nothing really comes up.

Also not sure if the stylus is worn since its the only table ive ever had and Im new to vinyl

Oh, one more thing...what phono preamp for under 200 would you guys suggest? I've got a pioneer sx990 and ads l620s if that helps

Yep, it's just what it says. Here is a replacement for it, but I have no experience with that exact cart or stylus.

The X1+ and X2+ were top of the line from the X Series. Chronologically starting in the 70's: F series, G, M, X, Z, then came the Prestige Series after that. Great cartridge and diamond. I would have it retipped if the coils are good and has a worn out diamond. Cantilever can be kept intact if nothing wrong with it. The diamond needs to be looked at under a microscope - might still be good. PM me and I'll pass along info on who to contact.

oh cool I didnt know it was top of the line for the time, thats great to hear! I'm pretty sure it is worn though, as I hear pretty distorted sibilance at some parts of songs. Also, what would be the benefit of having it retipped vs getting a new Grado stylus for it?

All the current Grado replacement styluses are bonded tips and would be step down in performance in that cartridge. It really needs a nude diamond which is why I suggested a retip. PM inbound.
