Can you replace 2sc1318 with Ksc2383 here? Sherwood S-7100A

Wish I understood this better... how transistor application changes with the type of circuit and how it is used in this power supply and main amp. Problem: Replacing the C1318 in different circuits, (with what I have on hand).

Can you can use a KSC2383 in the power supply of the Sherwood S-7100A for T606 and the other, which I think is T607. Should you use a KSC2690? I'm considering to raise the filter cap to 4700uf, and boosting the rectifiers to a 3A (like a 1N5404), too.

Unless it has failed, leave it alone. 1318 is fine. It gets a bad rap because Pioneer used it in some hot running power supplies right on the edge of its specifications.

The unit is running fine, no heat or signs of discomfort around the P.S. I will let it be for now. My other S-7100A has been cranking for over a year, and I did not change that set in the PS. My question was provoked by having to replace the regulators in my Pioneer SX-626, which did show heat. I used the 2690's there and added a heat sink to them, and that has performed very well.

Just want the best job, and one that will last. If I'm going in there, I want to do it right! Still trying to understand it, but I'm a function guy, so if it functions fine, that's good for me.

It's an npn ecb 50v, 0.5a 0.625w 85-350hfe 200 mhz transistor with ECB layout, TO92

KSC2690AY is listed as a sub in a few places too. Actually it has 160-320 hFE. It's a TO126 so maybe a little more challenging to place in there.
KSC2383Y also has hFE 160-320. It's a TO92.

Seems like either would work ? :dunno:
KSC2383 is the same package as 2SC1318.
 
IMO, it is on that list by mistake, due to being used in places where something else should have been.
1318 is TO-92, 2383 is TO-92L, a little larger (taller) package.
 
I've used the 2690 before in power supplies as a regulator, and added a small heat sink for extra caution. In this circuit I don't understand the requirements very well. I would be inclined to use the 2383 first. I don't expect the demands are very great here.
