Agree! The combination looks and sounds great to me. I'm no expert on turntables but have had some experience with Dual, Technics, Optonica, Pioneer and a Technics 1200 knock off. The 6300 sets up nicely, holds it's speed accurately and has a auto shut off that I like. I'm experimenting with some different cartridges to see how it goes. My own opinion is that if you like Marantz you'l like the 6300 sitting next to your Marantz receiver.

I'd be interested in seeing what cartridge you favour the best. My old ears are not what they used to be but I'm using a Sure V15 type IV and it seems to sound ok to me. Using an Ortofon Red on my other 6300 and I find not much difference but again I'm going deaf in my right ear.
Mine will shut off on auto and lift the arm however sometimes the tone arm slides off the lift support and the arm then slides into the record label. I've tried adjusting the screw at the back so so it triggers just a bit sooner and the lift will engage sooner and the arm will then stay on the support but then the last song doesn't play completely to the end. It seems that if the little support that the arm sits on as just a tad longer it would work perfect. I've tried turning it so the angle is better to lend a larger area for the arm to sit but that creates a smaller area to lift the arm at the other end at the beginning of play. Am I doing something wrong?? An adjustment I'm missing maybe?

You're on the right track. Here is a photo of the tone arm rest on mine. As you know this can be adjusted by turning it gently. Likely a combination of this setting as well as the screw in the back that adjusts the auto shut off function.

I've tried maybe 8 or so cartridges in the last couple of years on a variety of tables and all I can say is while I can sometimes hear subtle differences I admit to not having a Golden Ear. Having said this I have found good results with an old Stanton 500 (gold body) and a new Audio Technica AT95E. Based on my experience a well set up table, clean records and stylus do the job for me.

I've tried adjusting the rest one way or the other many times as well as the trigger but the arm still falls off occasionally. Maybe due to wear on the rest material??
Nice to know that there are other like me who doesn't have the Golden ear and have never experienced the "WOW" effect noticing extreme differences when changing out this stuff or maybe it's the combination of the entire chain that makes the difference. Either way I look forward to the day when I finally hear it, but at my age I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

I'm intrigued as to why? Can you take a close up photo of the rest the same as the one I posted above showing the tone arm on it's rest and a clear view of the up/down rest.

I think the rest on mine is turned the opposite way so it reaches the arm in the Auto position to lift the arm at start up when pressing the cue up button. If I turn it like yours it will work fine at the end of a record and not drop off but it's not long enough to to reach the arm at the beginning and I'd have to move it manually over the record. I know I'm probably confusing this. I will get a photo soon to post.
Just at work goggling images and most have the curve of the rest facing away looking from the front and both of my 6300's had the curve of the rest facing toward the front so I naturally assumed it was in the correct position. I guess that's not the case. Duh !! Will check it out in the morning to be sure, and if that's the case I'll turn them the opposite way to see what happens.

GT, the lift feature is designed such that when you are starting to play an album and you push ‘UP’ the tone arm does not lift off its rest. The user is required to pick up the arm and place it at the selection desired and then push ‘DOWN’ at which point the unit powers on and the table turns.
Once you turn the lift rest around you will be good to go.

Well that makes perfect sense now. Thanks. I actually read the owners manual on vinyl engine last night at work and I laughted out loud at my own stupidity. Dummy me! Don't know why I didn't see or pay more attention to that before now. Both tables were like this when I bought them so I just assumed thats the way they should be. I guess I should have taken the time to actually sort it out.

Actually, with two turntables set up the same way, I think most people would come to the same conclusion.

Thanks guys. Turned the rest on both tables 180 degrees and the auto shut off works fine and guess what !! ... The arm no longer falls off the rest!! Hahaha what a bone head I am. I have no words for this stupidity. Next time I promise I won't just stand there scratching my head hmmmm wonder what's up with that... Oh well must be just the way it is!!!
