Been searching for a long time. missed a pair locally for $800. So I just had an idea. What if I cut the tops off my Q2's, and the bottoms off my Q3's, then mounted them, 3's on top?????? need to get away:screwy::screwy::screwy: But seriously, Any inputs??? No Seriously!!!

:lmao: Franken-QLS1s! :D

I share your pain. There was a pair for sale here just after I first started getting back into vintage audio, but for various reasons I let them escape me. Right away I wondered if I shouldn't have, and later came to regret it, and have been hoping to score another pair for at least the last five years... without success. Big Infinities don't appear every day in Hong Kong. I did manage to snag a pair of QLS-2s, very enjoyable already, but still regret not getting the 1's, and hope one day to get a second chance at them. I have better speakers (RS IIs), and aim for even better ones (1bs/Betas or even RS Vs), but I'd still like to have the QLS-1s. Maybe one day. Right now it doesn't really matter, though, as I'm in a place with a smaller living room for at least 2 years, and wouldn't be able to enjoy them until after we next move. I'd still get them, though, and restore and store them, if I had the chance.

I hope you find yours before your "ideas" (dare I say hallucinations?) get any worse! :D

I've seen a few recently on that auction site ... but are pretty pricey, even QLS 1 cabinets..... Good luck in your search. I'd like a set of those too. But unemployment just won't pay for them ...

I wonder how kappa 7's and 8's would compare to the qls line? There's a pair of each one locally but I've only had experience with the quantum line. Any thoughts on how they might compare? Sorry for the thread hijack.

Isn't that what you in the US call blasphemy? :D

No but seriously, good luck with your hunt. Sure would like to own a pair of those myself, one thing is for sure; I'd never let them go :)

RS Vs ? Where in Hong kong would you set them up ? :D
Seriously though, sometimes I lose track of time when looking at those
monsters. Droolworthy is an understatement .

70% gonna do it. I'll try and document the debargery. Hope the Pats win today, maybe that will cheer me up.....

Should be quite a project, if you can get the crossovers right I see no reason
it shouldn't work. If you can put up some pics as you go that would be even
better. If you need any pics or dimensions for reference just shoot me a PM
Good Luck.

Be patient.
I thought I'd never find a pair of QLS-1, 2s or 3s and I live "right around the block" from where they used to be manufactured... when out of nowhere "curb alert" pairs of QLS-1s and RSIIs appear.
I'd be more prone to building out your RSII cabinets. Less expensive and just as satisfying:)

I picked up a set of the cabinets on the bay last week and have already acquired all necessary drivers to rebuild them. Probably more than what a complete set would have cost when it's all said and done, but at least they'll be in service. Plus this will give me a good excuse to do updated xovers and refinished cabinets, and they should look/sound great since all the mids and the Watkins 12s, oh, and the rear emits are all either new or NOS.

Can't wait to have time to actually work on them!

That"s what I like to hear.. "Make it happen captain" ......send us photos so we can druel:banana::banana::banana: Congrats!!

I wil put.up a thread once I get startwd. Pathetically, I spent today driving about 3 hours away to buy a set of really beautiful Quantum 2s. Hooked them up to my Nak amp, and they sound preety nice without having fiddled with the settings on the back.

Their is a pair of IRS V's for sale on a popular audio site right now. They are not cheap, orignal owner serial number 55, in perfect shape. I don't know the person but the zip is CA. I would buy them myself if I had tons of money and a listening room large enough for them. But to be honest I think I would be plenty happy with a pair of Beta's. To be honest my RS 1b's and QLS 1's sound gound enough I don't think I need a better pair unless I had a really large room with unlimited funds.
