Canton CT 1000 or CT 90?

Hi,

I'm looking at buying new front speakers for my home cinema and would appreciate some advice on what to buy.

What I want is the most bang for the buck for up to 400 Euros (incl 50 - 150 Euros for shipping). I've mostly been looking at Canton speakers as I have Canton speakers only already and really like their sound.

I'm looking for speakers with both bass/depth and clarity and above all a "wider field". I guess you could say simply good all-around speakers.

Use is about 50% gaming, 25% movie watching and 25 % music.

The ones I'm mainly looking at:

Canton CT 90.
I've read many positive reviews on them and they look really cool. I'd definitely go for the CT 2000 / CT 120 if I could but they are too expensive and costly to get shipped.

Canton CT 1000 (second version).
They do have a fatter bass with the 12" woofers but I live in an apartment and fear they might disturb the neighbours.. They would be a bit easier and cheaper to get shipped but on the other hand they don't look as nice as the CT 90.

I'm just guessing but thinking that the CT 90 might have a wider sound as they have bigger cabinets but that could be wrong(?).

Current front speakers: Canton Quinto 530, Surrounds: Canton Karat 40, Atmos speakers: 1 pair of Canton Karat 20, 1 pair of Karat 920, Center speaker: Canton Ergo 502 CM (hasn't matched neither the Quintos or the Karat 40's very well but I'll keep the center and decide whether to keep it or not after I've gotten new fronts.) Receivers are a Marantz SR7010 and an SR7009.

Lately I've been starting to look at newer Canton models as well such as the Ergo xx DC. Would love to try the RCL's but they are just too expensive and too heavy to get shipped.
No clue how these newer models compare to older Cantons.

I've also looked a bit at speakers from MB Quart but I've gathered even less info on these. Many Quarts look nice but I fear they might lack the bass and depth I'm looking for.

Any kind of input is appreciated, also open for suggestions on other brands.

I hope my comments can really help. I am currently listening through my Canton ct2000 loudspeakers with the crossovers from the ct90. I have recently closed the bass reflex ports of the ct2000. In our living room there were apparently strange room modes because the location of the loudspeakers was somewhat asymmetrical and the bass reflex caused them to boom. Now I have slightly less bass, but the localization of the sound sources is better. So for me it doesn't seem to be a question of the speakers, but also of the positioning. My speakers currently have a wall distance of 50-70 cm.
The ct1000s seemed a bit too treble-oriented to me, but they get their bass to the listener even without bass reflex. I have replaced all the old electrolytic capacitors and increased the resistance for the tweeter within the crossover from 0.33 Ohm to 1.0 Ohm. Now they seem very balanced to me.
In the meantime I have come to the conclusion that the position of the speakers in the room has the greatest influence on the sound, i.e. a bit of experimenting and moving around can bring more surprises than previously thought.
I think MB Quart are too rare and too expensive. They also often have damage in the speaker surrounds, which is very, very rare with Canton speakers. I would rather judge whether a Canton-Ergo loudspeaker can really bring any improvement in a direct test at home - I don't think so.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply!

The CT 2000 would be my dream speakers I think but I can't afford them and also don't think many would want to ship them. I asked this seller https://www.ebay.de/itm/115972291320 but if he were to ship he wanted 600 Euros which is a bit too much..
Yesterday I thought I had hit the jackpot when I found a pair of Karat 980 for 250 Euros here in Sweden but that seller also didn't want to ship.. Quite unfortunate as they seem like they would beat both the CT 1000 and CT 90 in every regard and they were in mint condition too.

You mention positioning, I'm actually just about to move my speakers. My room is only 5.5m x 3.5m and currently I have the fronts on the short wall and it seems to make the bass bounce around too much. I hope moving them to the long wall will make the sound more correct.

All my Cantons have had too harsh treble too unfortunately but it doesn't bother me that much as I can't listen on high volume anyway.

Must ask if you haven't had the chance to try the CT 90 speakers then?

MB Quarts can actually be found quite affordably on Kleinanzeigen. Several 980S and Q 1000 for between 150 - 250 Euros. Maybe they would be a worth to try after all?
The Ergos would probably be nice to avoid though, thanks for the tip. Maybe I should swap out my CM 502 after all..
