Canton CT-2000 speakers

Vintage futurist
After I got my first set of Canton speakers, the TOTL Ergo Passiv model from the early 1980's, I've been fascinated with the brand. There was another model that Canton made practically adjacent to the Ergo Passiv, designated as the CT-2000. It's a 3 way floor stander that handles 150w RMS and 300w peak, even bass down to 18Hz.

These rarely appear for sale on "that action site", but one set recently did this past July, in the highly desirable mahogany veneer finish even. The seller was in Austin Texas, allowing only local pick-up. This obviously cut out many potential buyers that would be willing to fork over the rather significant shipping costs (probably $140). I'm just curious... did anyone here manage to be the lucky buyer? The price was certainly very right! :)

I picked up a pair in rough shape. What a joy to restore this amazing speaker. The hard part was the tweeters. I had help to find a pair in Europe. Currently on a 500 wpc Rotel amp/preamp. They’re an incredible speaker.

I have always loved Canton. Hence the name. Started with CT-1000s (horizontal version). I lusted after 2000s and finally found a pair on Long Island. Then came CT-800s, Ergo Passivs in gloss white. Thought 2000s were the top dogs in the CT line. Then I found out about CT-100s and 120s. Found a pair thanks to a friend and like you, I had to search far and wide to find a new 3231 high-mid driver (these are 4 ways). A kind gentleman/member of the Canton facebook sold me a pair. According to him 120s and 100s are rare even in Europe. As of now, the CT-100s are probably the best speakers I own.

I did a bit more aggressive work on the cabinets. Boy was I rewarded. Terrific speakers.

I had a pair of Ergos about 10 years ago. They were very nice all arounders. The cabinetry was also beautiful. I have hear several models, including budget priced ones and have always come away impressed.

Same, CT-100 the best speakers I have and I have two pairs. Still looking for the CT-120

Just scored a pair of CT120 from a guy from Holland. And I'm in Bulgaria. It was a real pain to make him do all the packing and for me to find someone to pick them, but in the end it all worked out great. What can I say - amazing speakers, they just blow out the CT2000 (which my dad now gave to me, hehe).
