Canton GLE 100 tweeter damage

Hi there, I'm very sorry but I think I burned my Canton GLE 100 Tweeter.
I did a big mistake and suddenly I move the volume of the amp all the way up ( there was no music, I was only checking an hum I was listening) when I heard like a big and short whistle thorough the speakers.
Whoops!!!
My power amp enter in protection, so for he went off....then I tried with another amp too but there is no sound coming out from the TWEETERs.
Did I ruin it big time, right?
Is there any chance it is just a capacitor or something in the crossover that got damage?

There is discussion about how fragile are those tweeters in a HifiWiki post.

Here is what it says,

"Die Box hat sehr empfindliche Kalottenhochtöner. Bei gebrauchten Boxen sollte man deshalb vor dem Kauf Probe hören. Defekte Hochtöner kann man bei Canton heute (2007) sogar noch reparieren lassen, wenn man sie einschickt! Kosten: ca. 70 €/Stück. Die Reparatur nennt sich bei Canton reconen. Jüngere Modelle hat Canton deshalb in der Rückwand mit einer herausschraubbaren Hochtonsicherung ausgestattet. Wer das selber nachrüsten will, benötigt dazu eine Sicherung (1,25 A Flink) und einen aufschraubbaren Sicherungshalter zum Einbauen. Die Sicherung wird in der Plusleitung zwischen Frequenzweiche und Hochtöner angeschlossen."

No worries if your Cantons have the fuse installed. Less hopeful if not.

There are only 2 film capacitors in series with the tweeter. Either of them open would silence the tweeter. Here is the schematic (a work in progress) showing those capacitors:



And here is their location on the PCB:



It is not likely the capacitors opened. But it wouldn't hurt to inspect them to be certain.

unfortunately I checked and there is no fuse between tweeter and xover. Also capacitor looks in good shape.
I'm worried I burn the coil of the tweeter.
Already looking for new ones on eBay :-(
