Well, I’ll be darned. I decided to go for it and popped a new cap in there, putting the negative where the dot was on the old cap… sure enough… has a bit of trouble receiving stations but the volume is already better. Gonna try replacing the others, seeing if I can’t get a bit better out of her.
 
probably an emitter bypass cap or maybe an audio coupling cap. If either go open it will drop the gain considerably.

If you want a beyond a doubt confirmation which is negative, stick your voltmeter across the cap. Flip the leads around if needed to get it to show positive voltage, put the cap negative lead where the black probe is.
