Capacitor diameter to small for socket

Hi,

I ordered caps for recapping my Sansui AU555a and based my order on a list here:

Now, the caps for the power amp do not fit the sockets/fittings (see photo), the ordered elco's are slightly smaller. As these caps are not cheap I'd prefer to still use them. What are proper ways to solve this and properly fix them?

If you can solder them in place then you are almost good to go. You will figure something out.

Dunno if it´s a legit solution but I have solved this problem by wrapping electrical tape around the capacitors to enlarge their diameter until they fit in the holders.

New clamps that accommodate the size, or wrap foam insulation sticky tape/strips around the cap.

Just going through this process myself.
I'm using rubber o-rings. Also if I snip an outside edge to create flat spots they stay in place when I tighten down the mount ring/clamp.

For future reference (or if you want to spend more money and order again) there are some caps in these ranges of capacitance and voltage that are 35mm diameter. I saw some 40mm diameter listed, but they weren't in stock.

Some supply houses, like Newark, have larger size capacitors to replace those in older equipment.
