Car stereo not producing sound

I don't know a lot about this kind of thing, but i recently purchased a car with a nice sound system that worked at the time. The car has has a lot of battery issues and at one point when the car died, when it started the front two speakers didn't play sound. When it died again, same with the rear. The original radio when turned on only works on the drivers speaker, but now no sound plays through the added bit. i'm guessing it could be the fuses, but i can't seem to remove them with just needle nose pliers. any ideas?

forgot to mention the brand of the part you connect to is Kenwood Kdc x304

That blue wire that connects to the terminal marked REM is the remote turn on for the amp. It needs to be connected to a blue wire from the head unit so when the head unit turns on, it sends 12V to the amp to switch it on.

As you mentioned the issue started when the battery was replaced I would look there first.

Typically amplifiers like your Alpine have a wire connected to the positive battery terminal. I wonder if whomever replaced the battery forgot to re connect the amplifier. From the pics you posted it looks like a fairly large red wire.

There should also be a fuse in that wire somewhere close to the battery, check that too.

Additional pictures of the wiring at the radio, battery and amp will help.

Thanks for the help, I cant get the trunk open at the moment because the battery is dead and I need battery to open it since the key dosn't work so I cant get to the amp at the moment. Heres some pictures of the battery and such. What I'm guessing is the fuse looks to be fine there.

That wire goes into the car so I cant really get a good look at it, but on the back of the digital radio thing it seems to be connected fine

Can't really tell the condition of the fuse based on the pic but zip ties are not proper installation techniques.

Before you start replacing the battery clean up the connections at the solenoid where the battery cable and amplifier wire connect, they are very corroded and could be the cause of many of your issues. Be sure to disconect the negative cable first to avoid any shorts.

I took it apart and its actually not bad on the inside. I cleaned it up a bit and still doesn't work.

The next step would be to measure the voltage at the red wire on the amp. This should be 12vDC at a minimum at all times,
Then check the voltage at the blue wire at the amp. That wire should have 9 or 10 volts minimum only when the Kenwood is on.

If you had a working stereo to begin with then dead battery problems where it started to drop channels with each battery problem that's not good sign. Jumping the car might not have helped either with a bad battery. Sounds to me like a cascading failure in one of the pieces of your car stereo. If there was a short in that battery it can take out electronics. I had a battery with a short blow out the fluorescent display of the radio and felt luck it was just that.

Personally, I'd start with that "key" problem, so if need be, you can get into that trunk in a hurry.

Then if you don't have much of an auto-electrical background, I'd take it to a reputable radio shop, describe what's happening and try to get a feel for what needs to be done and the cost factor involved to do things right.

With that plastic zip-fix, and ongoing gear not working, it needs a basic going over for both safety and functioning.

just tested, red wire has 11.4V and blue 10.5. The amps blue light turns on, the ken wood turns on, just no power to the speakers. there was a cut wire but i'm not sure if that's important so i'll include those pictures.

The cut wire looks like it's from the old radio and not important here.

One of the pictures show what appears to be an infinity speaker but it is connected to what appears to be factory wiring. The pic of the other infinity speaker looks like it is connected to copper/silver colored wired that look similar to some wires in the picture of the amplifier. Other wires in the picture of the amplifier appear to be black along with some blue wires. Not trying to be mean or discouraging but you have a hot mess there. You really should look into a local car stereo shop and have that system removed, tested and re installed properly.

thanks for the help,turns out it was those fuses. I just had to pull extremely hard.
