Cart reccomendations for a Technics SL-1700?

Those early Technics headshells were unique and kinda neat. I like 'em. I still have one from my old SL-1800s. Most headshells are the two slot style. The cartridge mounts directly to the shell and not to the intermediate slider thingie. Overhang is adjusted by loosening both screws and sliding things around til you get it right, then tighten both screws only to have something slip and have to fiddle some more! That single screw setup sure was elegant! So is the Technics overhang gauge. I'd lose my patience setting the cartridge up on the TT with a protractor!

Alright guys, I bought the Stanton headshell you recommended and I can't get my AT440MLa to attach to it properly. I am really losing my patience with this. The headshell came with two screws and two rubber pieces, which I assume are there to secure the screws, so they can't slide around in the two headshell slots. But the damn rubber pieces aren't even shaped correctly to fit in the slots, and the screws provided with the headshell aren't really long enough to make it work either. I have some longer screws as well, but no luck with those either as neither set seem to be thick enough to not slide around in the slots in the cartridge or slots in the headshell? You'd think they'd include the right size screws with the ****ing headshell. Also the headshell came with a 2g weight in the middle, which I took out. Is it necessary? My old technics headshell didn't have one. Someone please help me. This shouldn't be rocket science.
