Cart suggestions for my Lenco

Hi guys,

I have a Lenco L75 with a diy-ed plinth and an Ortofon AS212 tonearm. Currently it runs with a Pickering xv15 cartridge with Tonar aftermarket stylus. I think the stylus is not that great (cart is ok tough).
So I'm looking for something new/current production to complement the Ortofon arm.
My musical taste is quite diverse, from Dylan to Radiohead and from Coltrane to Clapton, so the cart needs to be as well. Record quality also varies, from 60s first pressings of ok quality to new.
I don't have any low output MC playback capabilities at the moment, so that's a not an option. Lastly, budget is always a consideration: max. 200 euros.

Edit: on the picture I run an ortofon om10 cart which I don't really like.

In the less than 200 euro range, IMHO youre moving laterally or down in sound quality swapping out that pickering for a new cart. Why not get it a SAS aftermarket needle?

I am sure its available through European distributors as well. You could check jico's website to find European distributors closer to you.

Mines an L70 with Fidelity research fr-54 and a zyx bloom. I am almost done with, that pic was a mock up before finalizing the details.
 
Nice looking table, love the stacked platter! Does that make a lot of difference?

About the jico stili, the one you recommend is for quadrophonic use? Is there any benefit for stereo playback as well? (Pardon my ignorance).

Or could I be happy with, let's say, the d1200 stylus as well and save a hundred bucks? (And buy more music[emoji4])
 
I'd say stacking makes the low bass more forward, and gave a bit more focus to the soundstaging, I'd recommend it if you can find another platter, which would be easier for an L75, lots more of those around! I'm still looking for another platter to restore my "parts" lenco L70 into a dedicated 78/mono player using the stock arm.

Shibata needles were initially developed for quadrophonic use, but quickly became the tip profile of choice for playing clean, well maintained records. Finer tip profiles extract more detail from the grooves, wider frequency response, lower effective moving mass, but also extract a lot more groove damage, dirt and dust, particularly the high compliance carts that have a low tracking force. (>2gm) Long story short, yes get the Vivid Line profile if you don't own a record cleaning machine (or manually clean your records).

Plus like you said, you could get the d1200 and spend the other hundred euro on records :) but a quality needle for that pickering should be your first move. You aren't going to get much more improvement unless you go up to a at150mlx, nagaoka mp500, dynavector 10X5, Ortofon 2M bronze/black or the like. And I'd go LOMC if I was going to spend that kinda money.
 
I have a second (and third [emoji16]) platter available. Picked up 3 Lencos up on the cheap last half year. Quite a lot of them here. One for me, one for my dad and one spare. So I might give it a go. Will need to find out how to make the spindle longer. [emoji15]

Regarding Jico styli, can't seem to find a European supplier. Does anyone know one?
