Cartridge and headshell compatibility

This might be a dumb question but I'm wondering about headshell/cartridge compatibility.

I have a Pioneer PL-516 TT with an lower tier AT cartridge (not sure what model -- it came with the TT) attached to an ADC headshell.

I upgraded my cartridge by ordering an AT440MLa yesterday and now am wondering if it will be compatible with the ADC headshell. The TT manual indicates "any cartridge can be used on condition that only the accessory headshell is used with it." :scratch2:

It should be okay. Sometimes there's a problem if the headshell is too heavy, or there isn't enough room in the slots to accomodate a certain alignment. Try it and see. But if there's already an AT mounted, I doubt there will be any problems.

Good point, Howard. Having an AT already mounted probably reduces the chances of the new one not fitting. I didn't even think of compatibility issue until I glanced at the manual.
