Also if you could also explain what is recommended counterweight and anti skate dial amount for this particular one (i know i still need a stylus but to get the right amount if you can please lmk the right amount with stylus)

Assuming your stylus source was an on line vendor, can you post a link of the listing?

The linked website said that the stylus needs 3 to 7 grams. it is usually the stylus that determines the tracking force and not the body of the cartridge. Typically the tracking force and anti skate will match. For example, if you put the tracking force for this cartridge at 3 grams, then the anti skate would also be 3 grams. Hope this helps!

Tracking force depends on the stylus, the 3-7 gram is also a fairly hot output, and more suited for somewhat clunky record changers. Just from my own experience, I've found that the aftermarket ones for this type tend to be less than amazing, though its been a long time since I had a non-OEM 3-7 gram conical so possibly they have gotten better. Also mine was for a Pickering V15, which is the same cartridge internally but the plastic around the stylus looks a little different.

personal opinion, if you can get one that runs in the 2-5 or 1-3 gram range it would probably be a better match. That doesn't look like a clunky arm so it should handle the lighter weight with no fuss.

First you must read the DC resistance with a dmm then go to above chart and look. It's possible that's a 1st gen 680 cart. Until you can determine that don't buy any stylus. TO tmeasure DC measure left channel plus ground then right side. then go to chart . good luck let us know

Have you checked out the cartridge and tonearm wiring for continuity? With a DMM you could check to make sure the cartridge seems good before proceeding.
I dont have one might look into getting a dmm it’ll likely come in handy cause e have a lot of other stuff i can test and use it for. Do you recommend any specific ones?

I just bought one on the auction site, cheap. There is a thread in AK that has a few recommendations. The reason why a digital meter is important is that it is safer in measuring resistance of phono cartridges. I bought one that measures inductance, too.

The old analogue meters can fry the delicate coils in a cartridge. Ask me how I know! :(

Knowing how to use a multimeter for basic measurements is a good idea, but the cart you have there is a 500, not a 680, no question about it.

what turntable do you have?
