cartridge recognition

Hi,

I've found an old Sanyo TP-1005U turntable in my basement and it's quite working.
I dont know what cartridge is installed and i'm hoping someone here can tell me.

Right now it has a sharp sty-117 stylus which is producing pretty good sound but i think it doesnt fits correctly and i want to replace it to a new stylus.

Another thing,
I also have a M44-7 old shure cartridge (brown) mounted on a Garrad headshell, can you tell by the pictures if i can mount it on my TT? is it any better?

Thanks!!

That first cartridge is probably identified on the top surface, under the headshell. You could buy a cartridge in the same range for probably the same cost as a stylus or within a few bucks. And yes...you could put the Shure cartridge on the Sanyo headshell.

Google shopping search for AT CN5625AL

Can't help with the Sanyo cart, but the Shure can be fitted to that headshell, though you may need longer hardware to mount it.
