Cartridge to Yamaha GT-2000L.

Hello.

This is my first post.
I've just ordered a GT-2000L from Japan which comes with the original headshell. I've recently bought a Rega Exact cartridge which I'm very pleased with, and I wonder if the Rega cartridge will fit on the headshell, or if I'll have to buy a new cartridge? I have read somewhere that the original headshell doesn't fit all cartridges.

Thanks
K

I would think the Rega is to compliant for the pretty heavy GT-2000 arm. I was thinking of buying a GT-2000L until my Luxman PD-350 crossed my way. I have read somewhere that the arm has a effective mass of 22 grams. I would have put a Dl-103 in it. Many owners love them some tweak them I love the original one just as it is. In my opinion one of the bargains in the hifi world (and i sell Ortofon and Benz).

I have its sibling GT750 with a pretty much identical headshell. Yes not all carts fit into the original although it's a nice headshell. Don't you have some universal headshell? If the Rega doesn't fit you can just use a universal one.

Hope you're getting one with a non-problematic arm.

Thanks for your reply. The Luxman PD-350 look nice! I've thought about the DL-103 if my Rega exact won't fit. I've also heard nice things about the Shure m97xe and the audio technica ml440a (My budget is kind of limited due to buying the GT-2000L).
I play mostly folk/country, metal and electronica. I've heard neither of these cartridges. Any suggestions of which would suit me the most?

I don't have a universal headshell as my current arm is a Rega arm with a fixed headshell.

Assuming that the arm is the YSA-39:

● ● Tone Arm
Expression S-shaped gimbal light heavyweight support
Effective Length 262mm
Effective mass 22g (including cartridge)
Overhang 14mm
Offset angle 20 degrees
Horizontal tracking angle error -1 ° to +2 °
Pressure applied to the needle method Static balance type (3.0g Zhou 1, 0.1g step)
Cartridge weight range of adaptation 1 ~ 20g
Arm first motion sensitivity Horizontal and vertical 7mg
Lifter Arm Queuing formula oil dumping
Anti-skating Yarn hanging formula
Arm height adjustment +10,-6mm
Headshell Machined pure aluminum, 13g
PU cable NEGLEX 2496
Double cylindrical 2, 130pF, 350mΩ, gold pins
Auto Lifter (GT-2000L) Optical (position detection system)

How is it possible for the effective mass of the arm to be with a cartridge when no one was offered there stock/new. It has to be including headshell or something.

I think both the m97xe and ml440a would fit better in a lighter arm. Perhaps something like a Sumiko Blue Point special or Ortofon Vivo Red would fit to but neither of them are as good in my opinion as the DL-103 (had a Sumiko before I got my first DL-103).

I don´t think you you should choose a cartridge by what music you listen to since the variations from one record to another can be huge even in the same genre.

One thing I really appreciate with the DL-103 is that is sound very good even at worn records due to sperichal needle.

Thank you for your input Vinylcalle. Much appreciated! The DL-103 also has a affordable price tag which is nice.
