Cartridges Differences

Hi All

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is the difference between MM, MI & MC.

From what I've gleamed from the web MM & MI are very similar, but MC is different.

It seems MC is more expensive.

Just curious.

MC = moving coil - magnets are fixed coils move
MM = moving magnet - coils are fixed magnet moves
MI = moving iron = coils are fixed with magnets, iron moves (think guitar pickup)

Generally mc don't have replaceable styli.
