Cartridges: Signet 1Ea and AT 130E

I have four turntables and plan to sell 3. To be honest I bought the very inexpensive AT3600 cartridges just to have something on the table when I sell it. I am wondering what my best match is for cartridges if I were to keep something. I have no idea if the Signet or AT130E were maybe original to the tables or if they are better upgraded cartridges. The Onkyo although it does not look like a great table it seems to sound the best. I am not a huge vinyl listener but thought maybe I would keep one in a second system. I already have a Philips 212 with a Shure V15 type III cartridge. So, I ask all of you knowledgable turntable people if you had these options what would you pair up for a better table?

Philips 406 with AT 3600

Philips 212 with AT 3600

JVC QL-A200 with Signet 1Ea

Onkyo CP 1036A with AT 130E

I think the carts would each be happiest where they already are. My personal opinion is, I'd keep the JVC and the Onkyo and sell the two Philips...unless you have a thing for the Philips design. If you must sell three, decide on the JVC or the Onkyo and go from there. The 130E maybe the best of the bunch, but it's a hard call.

Happy trails,

Bk: The Philips 406 can definitely go. Whereas it might be wise to keep the second 212 as part donor for your other 212. And like Larry I'd also think the JVC and the Onkyo would seem worth keeping, and I'd suggest to upgrade the TK1Ea on the JVC with for example an ATN440MLb - or maybe an ATN132EP for not quite 70 bucks from Stereoneedles, with which it would be on level with the AT130E on the Onkyo.

I did like how the Onkyo sounded and the JVC I have used before just not for a while. I am surprised you guys would take those two over the Philips tables. The Philips just seem better build quality although the 406 to me looks ugly. From what I am hearing I guess maybe I would either keep the Onkyo to have something different or the Philips 212 to have a mate for the other.

Bk: I'd suggest to try the ATN130E of the AT130E on the body of the TK1Ea, before deciding between the JVC and the Onkyo, 'cause the JVC design looks interesting to me, so that I'm not that sure, whether the Onkyo would actually be the better of the two...

I have a Signet 1Ea on aBraun Atelier P1 and they sound remarkably good together. The Signet was on a Denon DP-1200, but when I sold the Denon, the buyer didn't want the cartridge.

I know little about cartridges and Styli, but I know when I hear great sound. I also know nothing about the AT cartridge. Interesting about the Stylus upgrade though. I might try that! :)
