I've decided to pull the Carver gear out of the closet and move my Adcom set (gtp-400/gfa-5200) to another room. I've noticed that on the CT-3, when i turn on the Sonic Holography and the volume is zero, there's a slight hiss over the speakers. It does this regardless of the source (even if nothing else is plugged in) or amp & speaker combo. Its quiet as hell if the sonic holography is turned off. It doesn't have the normal low level hiss I've heard people complain about. The sonic holography works well and sounds fantastic with some recordings (not so much with others.) Amp is a TFM-15CB running a set of DCM TW3's.
I've never messed with the sonic holography much and this is the only Carver pre I've had. Is it normal for a bit of low level hiss like that? turn the volume up slightly and its drowned out by the music.
