Carver gear opinions / experiences please

The TFM-15 is a kick ass amp for the budget minded audiophile. Very good sounding, and reliable. The preamp/tuners like the CT 17 I never really liked.
I have owned alot of Carver gear over the years and it is ALL still running just fine..

I have the Amazing speakers and have an EP2500 amp driving them with over 700 watts rms per channel at four ohms. I can make the amplifier clip but the speakers can still soak up more power.

No clue how he could burn up those ribbons...
 
Well I guess you could say I am a Carver fan. My Main rig is Carver Lightstar Amp and Pre and I have a couple of other pieces of Bob`s gear an M400a cube amp nice little amp and a Phase Linear 400B as well as a C-9, T-28 and a Phase 3000 II. I have had McIntosh in my system as well and others over the years. If you can get the Carver gear reasonalbly I would do it.
 
I'm a carver fan too. I think for the $$$ you get a great product. That and you have to take into account what they were producing with Bob there vs. when he wasn't with the company. It's like comparing 70's to 80's Marantz. Totally different company. My 2 cents...
 
I have had several Carver units. Lasers went fairly quickly in both CD-players. The CT-7 and CT-17 were both good preamps, although I really had no use for the sonic holography gimmick and the motorized volume control quit working in short order also. The M0.5t was probably my favorite sounding Carver amp, but the M1.5t had far more power and headroom. A small short took out every single output transistor on the right side once. Really thought that should have blown a fuse first. That was the last straw for me and went to a Yammie B-2x/C-2x after that. Now my SS stuff is Heathkit and Marantz and have Radio Craftsmen for tubes. All better than my Carver equipment IMHO.
 
Well my buddy replaced the tweeters twice and after the 3rd time he said enough.They did sound amazing when they worked.
