Carver SDA 490T spinning but not starting song

Hi, I have a new to me Carver SDA 490T that isn't working properly. I've cleaned and greased the rails, cleaned both the lens and laser underneath, and checked the contacts from the wires leading to the laser pickup. There is a metallic clink sound every time the motor starts spinning the disc. It starts up 3 times and then reads "disc".

Does anyone have experience or advice on this issue?
