Carver/Sunfire

My experience is limited to the Carver products I've used - currently a CT-6 pre-amp/tuner and a TFM-25 amp. I am very happy with the sound and the reliability of both - no problems and sounds great.

It seems with the Carver products there is a wide range of opinions from good to bad - indicative of a company without consistent quality or manufacturing direction - but with a very competent engineer designing things.

I like my CT-Seven M-65 combo. I have run a few preamps thru the combo and keep coming back to the carver for a couple of reasons. 1.Phono sounds good. (and this is the main thing) 2. One of the better Digital tuners. Not as good as some analogs but way better than alot I have tried. 3.It has a remote! Just my two cents.

I understand the original Phase Linears were all tested before leaving the factory, I think they shorted them across the speaker outputs at full power and if they survived they passed.

Kids dont try this at home, but I accidentally did. Had an extra long set of speaker wire tips/connectors with the 45 degree bend on the end. They got twisted around on one of my Phase 400-II amps and touched. Welded themselves together.

Blew the fuse on the amp. Had to cut the connectors apart and then fired up and continued to play once the fuse was replaced just like nothing had happened !
