Carver "The Receiver": 130 or 150 wpc?

Hi. Carver made two different flavors of "The Receiver": one was rated at 130 wpc and a later edition rated at 150 wpc. I own one which was sold to me by the allegedly "original owner" as the 150 wpc version. However, it looks just like the 130 wpc version and I have no idea how to distiguish between the two. Is there a serial number cut-off? Some internal design change? I'm really curious now.....

I think the original 130 has detachable side rack handles and the 150 is a one piece face plate with holes for the handles.

RocknRoll: If that's true.....you just made my day! I don't want no WIMPY 130 wpc Receiver!!!

Read the last few letters/digits of F.C.C. ID on the back plate. My Carver Receiver says: BEY9JG MXR130 -- thus 130 WPC. By the way, that is a very conservative 130 WPC, most bench-test out at 150--155. Also, it has a one-piece front face plate, so I don't know how reliable that is as a defining characteristic.

The owners manual that dates 1983 shows on the cover the receiver with de-tachable side mount rack handles. Power rating within said manual states 130 Watts - legend has it both the 130 and 150 bench test around 160 watts.

Edit:
I'm still really confused. The manual still has the same picture on front and it says 1983 and 150 watts. Changing the model in production was kind of lame. http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11528&highlight=carver+receiver

I have the same issue with a Carver I purchased four years ago from the original owner. I have the original carton on which "150" is marked. Unfortunately, I do not have the owners manual. This alpha numeric ID is silkscreened on the back panel: "Verification No.: BEY645 LL 44839 C". S/N is 71207140. Based on the 150 marked on the carton and zero model number anywhere, can I assume this is the MXR 150? BTW, receiver has fixed rack handles mounted on the front panel.

Welcome to AK!

For what it's worth, this thread is about two decades old, but maybe the answer will pop up anyway.

I assume the difference in power ratings is not the real crux of the question, as it's less than 1dB - imperceptible to most human ears.
