I picked up one of these little Cayin 220Ti AM/FM tuners on US Audiomart, and continue to be blown away at what this girl can do. FM never sounded so good! I bought a nice antenna from DXengineering.com, which cost more than what I paid for the Cayin tuner. The unit is like new, the previous owner only took it out of the box to try, and for some reason packed it back up and it sat according to his wife. The poor guy passed away and never got to experience this tuner.
I was sitting here this morning listening to my local Jazz station, WRCJ out of Detroit. I was doing the, "What's that?", looking around the room for "where did that sound come from?"... I was wandering around the room several times, in a bit of amazement. The clarity and detail is simply amazing, and is 100% better than streaming.
The tuner is solidly built, looks very high end, and is heavy, I would say around 12 pounds or so. I should crack it open and take a look. It has 99 presets, a remote, no volume control, it is a straight tuner. Not even an on/off on the remote, you have to get up to turn it on and off using the front power button. There is one set of RCA output jacks, an IEC plug, an AM push pin, and FM Coaxial connection for the antennas. The remote is not intuitive in the least, it's only real shortcoming, but it works. I am glad the manual came with it, as there is little out there on this tuner.
I have this attached to my new to me ToneWinner AD-2PRO+ integrated amplifier. This unit is another post... The speakers are Magnepan LRS+ and a pair of Zu DW6 Supremes. The amp is Class A up to 60w and Class A/B up to 240w per channel if memory is serving me right. It has more than enough power for me and these speakers.
If you run across one of these Cayin 220Ti tuners, grab it, you will not be disappointed.
