I just bought a vintage Pioneer PD-M59 in perfect working condition. Put 6 pre-recorded albums in the magazine that came with it, and everything was fine until the # 3 disc. It started skipping like crazy. Thinking the magazine was the problem, took the # 3 disc out and put it in my single disc magazine, and back into the PD-M59. Same thing, I then put it in my other good player where the the single disc mag came out of. It couldn't read it at all.
The first time I quickly looked at the disc for dirt, but didn't see anything. I finally found that the PD-M59 was dripping a very fine light color oil toward the center of the disc where the player starts to read from. At this point, I tried another clean disc in the PD-M59, same spot on the disc, skipping or wouldn't start playing at all.
I have no idea why someone would lube in this general area? Anyone see this before? I spoke to the seller and going to return it for refund. He wanted to fix it, but I've lost confidence, and if I opened it up I couldn't return it.
