Hi all,

I’ve noticed that in the turntable forum there is a thread for tables. Same with a few other threads of other gear. I’ve not seen one for CDPs. If I’m wrong please let me know. Thought it would be cool to see some CDPs.

I’ve been recently getting back into playing CDs, partly due to the fact they can be had for low buck. Have found a lot of great albums on CD, and have really been enjoying playing them. That said it’s had me looking up new machines to play them on.

This is one of my CDPs, I got this unit a while back from a local friend. It’s a Sony X33ES. It came in the original box from the original owner. I got really lucky on this one. It’s clean inside and out, and sounds great.

Any other fans of vintage CDPs? If so, wouldn’t mind seeing some of them :)

Best one I've heard was in a reviewer friend's system almost twenty years ago - Burmester 969 transport / 970 DAC. Build quality and finish was impeccable as was the sound. It was a top loader.

It was also there I was able to compare it to a more modest GamuT CD-1 which I used for about ten years. It had separate power supplies for analog and digital sections. Output was 4V at 75 ohms so I used DACT attenuators for best sound quality at the time:

1986 Kyocera DA-610cx (w/ RC-101 remote unit on top). Plays CD's and CD-R's without a hitch. Hasn't needed service. Wonderful sound for a vintage player.

Man I missed out on a Kyocera player about 6-8 months back. It was in good clean cond too but it sold before I could make the trip to pick it up. I know they are nice decks, the build quality is really fantastic!

Nice.

I used to have really nice teak and glass dual width rack.

Still, I'd wager on what I said.

Working in IT has taught me that a lot of people on the leading edge think (incorrectly) that once new tech is in place all old tech will be immediately discarded.
