This week for £2 I picked up a couple of used cds,Laura Nyro,New York Tendaberry and XTC,White Music,remastered.I would prefer the vinyl but who cares,I've got the music and not a dodgy mp3 download or a rental stream.
But what is its replacement? There IS NO VIABLE REPLACEMENT on the market today save for hi-res digital downloads, which are a niche market and unknown to most people.
It will be our niche market when you can't get new physical media any more. We are the only ones worried about it, the vast majority of people are happy with free streaming!
