Just picked this up (CEC/Visonik DD-8200 Direct Drive Truntable). Kinda a newbie but have used turntables before. I cant for the life of me figure out how to float nor drop the tone arm anywhere close to the record. It's seems like the weight is too heavy no matter where i place it. The cueing mechanism works but the arm doesnt sit on the mechanism that slowly drops. Am I completely missing something or is something not right here?

Dual Turntables Super-Restorer
A simple way to get this thing to work is to make a cartridge spacer out of a little piece of lead sheet and replace any existing spacers with it.
Can you measure the combined mass of the headshell+cart? I'm surprised by this. I've never had trouble getting mine to balance with any of the headshells I have.
The headshell is metal. The cart is a Denon DL-300
Weighs 11.4 Grams / .4 Ounces

I think the stock headshell on this weighs 9-10 grams (if it's the same as the one I have, and that's from memory) and the manual says it can balance down to a 4g cart. That'd be 13g total minimum with a 9g cart. I think the lightest I've balanced is a 7g headshell + ~5g cartridge plus hardware, so that's 12-13g total.

Thank you for the recommendation and help. Do you know if the strobo light should illuminate once powered on? Or does it only come on once the the record starts playing?
If the platter is spinning the light should be on.
When I received mine, the mirror that gave you your strobe picture was knocked loose. If it were missing, the strobe could light and you wouldn't see a thing. Remove the platter and look down in the the little cavity where the strobe window is and see if you can see the mirror. If not, it may be in there but upside down or missing. If it's missing, a glass shop should be able to cut you one to size. I'd offer to measure mine but I glued it back in months ago.
If the neon is out, I'd personally be looking into doing an LED conversion. I did so on my Sony using parts from Keystrobe and it's the business.

The Denon DL-300 is a pretty low compliant lomc cartridge
8 x 10-6 on the Japanese "scale".
Use as heavy as you can find headshell may optimize the sound reproduction.

I am a brand new member as of a few minutes ago. I just bought a Visonik DD-8200 yesterday at a thriftstore. All in all it works great but when the needle reaches a tiny bit into the dead wax, the needle jumps back, into the last track and this sequence of events would just continue if I didn't cue the arm up. Is there tonearm adjustment for this? Is there a cue adjustment? The cartridge and needle are fine.

Sorry, was this just in reply to the tonearm floating. My issue is also related to the tonearm but only in that the tonearm won't lift in the dead wax. The tone arm sets down perfectly and plays well the whole way til the dead wax.

Seems you have problems with the auto stop mechanism of your CEC.
Take off the metal plate from the CEC by removing first the rubber mat, then check the auto return and auto-stop mechanism.
You should see a large nylon round mechanism over which is positioned a small metal strip.
Chances are that the grease over it has become old and dried up.
The best is to take off this nylon part carefully by removing the C clip, wash the who part removing any trace of the old grease and put some new grease as per maintenance manual you can download from Vinyl Engine (registration is required).
