Celebration!!!!!!!!

This Monday my wife and I opened bottle of champagne :thmbsp:
No, it wasn't late New Year celebration...
We just made last payment for our daughter's college!
What a relief!
No, I wouldn't say it means more money towards my audio purchases...
Long time ago I said to myself that it will be strictly self-financing hobby...and never took a dime from a family budget.
Besides there are many other things (house renovations, vacations,etc...).
But at least we DONE with college payments for kids (my oldest son graduated 4 years ago).
Hip Hip Hooray!

My oldest daughter is getting a PhD in Chem E this year from the Univ. of Wisconsin.
Being a woman in a mostly male field certainly has its perks.
She's being actively recruited by quite a substantial number of firms.
My guess is that her starting pay will be higher will be significantly higher, than the pay I was making (RR mechanic) when I retired in 2008.

My oldest still has 3 semesters left before she can take the bar exam (Drake Law School in Des Moines, IA - expensive private college).

My middle one graduated last May with an art degree in furniture design. She's still looking for a job, any job... (graduated from MCAD - Minneapolis College of Art & Design - expensive)

My son is a senior in HS and wants to be a pharmacist and is preregistered for S. Dakota State U. (SDSU). Compared to the other two colleges above, SDSU is about 1/4 of the cost..... :D

My daughter just started the life science's course at the University of Toronto, with the hopes of becoming a Dr. First semester has seen great results so it's looking good. I set up an RESP. when she was born so I'm covered.

Now, what can I expect of her 11 year old sister who is not the academic type? She has an RESP as well. I will roll it into an RRSP for her if she doesn't attend a college or university, and she won't have to save for retirement.

Huge congratulations to you...just starting off on that journey (our daughter is 8 months old) can only imagine how proud you must be!
