the Celestion Ditton 25
hi,
these were a good spkr. the box is abit flimsy benefits form tarring and bracing.
also benefit from a wide plinth with spikes.
they used a 12 inch and a 12 passive cone/radiator. good deep bass, but need a rumble filter below 10hz.
Tweeters - two HF1300's to handle going down to meet the 12, plus one HF2000.
reasonably sensitive too.

Well probably from the same era, I have a pair of the Ditton 44s. They are a 12"/6"/1" three way and I have never lusted for anything else sense I found them. Great quality drivers, cabs and crossovers. Rubber surrounds on the drivers means they may out last me 
Celestion is a very old English speaker company that stated in the 20s I think. some where I have a link to the company sit e that use to have a history section, let me look.....

I REMEMBER the Ditton 25's very well -- they were a remarkable speaker -- very British, very clean sound.
I have seen the odd pair for sale on e-bay in the last year -- as I recall, the prices were in the $200 to $400 range.
I own two pairs of Celestions -- Ditton 22's (same era as the 25's) and a pair of Ditton 130's.
Both sets of speakers are running great today!

Here's a pic of the pair that I had for about 4 months. I was deciding between them and the KEF 104ab's to use with a Sansui AU919 and choose the KEFs in the end. THought the Dittons were a bit too "dark" sounding.
Also have a pair of Ditton 15's which were much more lively sounding and overall really good value, and seem to sound good with any amp I tried them with.
