Hello,
I have a conundrum : I need to connect 3 audio source ( turntable, laptop, cd player) to one central audio source changing item. Speakers are active. I am planning to by separate preamp for turntable. So I am a bit confused what this central unit should be. should it be a mixer or AV processor or rack mount mixer? Maybe someone can suggest some other alternatives? price is a factor.
Regards.

Now if you were making party recordings or sprucing up recordings you might want a mixer with effects mix circuits to use with processors for effects while making up your source of music to apply to disc or thumb drive.

Hello,
first of all thank you for you time and replies.
I found that I need balanced cables for my active speaker because cable length will be more then 10ft (3m). And I cant find stereo preamp with XLR output for a descent (budget) price. All I can find is in 1.5 - 2k eur (1.7 - 2.3k usd) range. does anyone can suggest something budget friendly?
thanks.

Many of us use regular RCA's as long as 20'. I use a 20' run from my preamp to an electronic crossover on a very low stand between my speakers.
