I KNOW this is extremely late, but I was wondering if anyone is coming in from Chicago who might be willing to pick me up? I hate to ask, but the friend I planned on going to this with had to go to Indiana to work for the weekend. Anyway, yes...I am looking for a lift and would be more than happy to contribute a little towards gas. Thanks!

It was awesome to meet everyone form the AK circle and from elsewhere. What a fun and knowledgeable group!

Thanks to Brian for hosting this event. I got to chat with some people about stuff nobody else I know wants to talk about, and also met Mr. and Mrs. Grumpy. I had hope to meet Ken (Urizen) but maybe he came after I left?

Also, Brian I think you need larger speakers :D

BTW the Herman's Hermits ROCKED (really) and I got some LPs signed.

Brian had some great food out along with all the goodies the guests brought. Though i was particular to my taco dip i brought, but I am biased. I had an awesome sausage and some excellent corn.

Spent some time inside listening to Brian's very attractive system. All this gear was new to me, so I can not recite specs for you, sorry. ~~EDIT: removed my guess at the specs. Brian posted correct specs below.~~ Brian had the digital server running and was also spinning CDs and vinyl.

Close up of the amp. very cool looking stuff. Some day I hope to own a (much smaller) tube amp. :) I spoke with Dale a bit about getting my hands on a kit to get me started. may be a few months / years away from being ready to jump into a tube system, but I definitely want to start soaking in tubey knowledge. :)

Thanks to all of you for coming, and thanks, Joe, for the photos. For the foodies, the sausage varieties included Andouille, Santa Fe chicken, California style linguisa, smoked sausage, fresh bratwurst (precooked a bit in beer and water), smoked bratwurst, and Polish sausage. I also had marinated chicken breasts which I grilled and were enthusiastically received. The corn! Twin Garden Farms sweet corn gets raves and is so tender you can eat it raw. By the way, that cheesy dip mentioned above was outstanding! People loved the baked beans, too. There were more desserts than appetites left over!

The tube amps are Atma-Sphere MA-1 Mk III.1s (old style chassis), 140 watt Class A OTLs. The speakers are Sound Lab Ultimate-1PXs (Kirk, they make smaller and larger models :lmao:). The digital gear is Abbingdon Music Research (AMR), and we listened to the DP-777 Digital Processor fed by either an AMI Purist Mini music server or the AMR CD-777 CD player used as a transport. The analog system is a Feickert Twin turntable with Kuzma 4Point tonearm and Shelter Harmony cartridge, into an Atma-Sphere MP-1 preamplifier with phono section. Cabling by Acoustic System, Creative Cable Concepts, and Teo Audio Liquid Cables.

Thank you Brian for a great time! You are a most gracious and excellent host! Made lots of new friends that I hope to see again soon, and it was fun to hear what a truly world class non dynamic speaker was capable of. hope we didnt break them. Also a quick thanks to bill sweet for coming to my big band gig the following day.
 
Joe, thanks for the info. Now if only I can figure out the names of the guy in the orange T-shirt with the tube graphic on it and the fellow in the purple shirt with the Memphis accent... By the way, I did link this page with your photos in a post on Audio Asylum.

Keith, nice that you and Bill got acquainted. I still have my trumpet but lost my lip a long time ago...

The guy in the black T-shirt and light gray pants is yours truly. I'd be interested to know the screen names of some of the people I was talking to, although I understand not everyone was an AK member...
 
Hi Kirk, I had no trouble remembering you. Thanks to Joe it looks as though all but one person (the guy with a southern accent wearing a purple T-shirt) has been identified.
