Last Saturday, the Central PA Region held its 23rd annual show at Kelly Cadillac, Lancaster PA. Lots of nice cars & a great time.

1962 Cadillacs were featured being they are now 50 years old. My buddy's '62 Fleetwood 60 Special is inside the showroom and my '62 CdV is the one parked on the front entrance ramp to the showroom.

WOW! That is a sweet bunch of great cars! I love old Caddies and there sure were soe great ones there!

I didn't know about the club or the show but I enjoyed looking at the pictures. Thanks for posting the link!
 
...And, to me, it just shows that virtually any attempts by owners to "improve" their cars' looks by adding modern wheels or radical alterations invariably end up looking like Azz.

Caddys have been in my blood since I was 5 or 6.

Just a little on the '57 Biarritz: The guy bought the car in 1979. Solid car but needed a full restoration. Didn't start the resurrection 'till 2008 however, in the interim he harvested every single NOS part imaginable for the car- over the period of three decades. Keep in mind, parts- especially NOS parts could be had for a small fraction of what they're worth now. So, for example the air cleaner/dual-4 carb setup is wearing original Cadillac gold engine paint and all decals are correct silk-screened onto the setup- not aftermarket clear stick-on decals which is the case 99.99% of the time.

All original features were documented and replicated down to the most minute detail even to the point that he specified the car to be repainted in original lacquer instead of the usual basecoat/clearcoat system of today. There are very few '57 Cadillacs finished to this level of perfection and it was a privilege to see.

luuuuuuuuuuuvvvvvv me some '59 Caddy. More class in the a** than most cars had on 4 wheels.

My grandad had a tan '60 Sedan DeVille. Same basic car, trifle more subdued fins. Virtual one car parade, though-HUGE compound-curved windshield, "K2" fins, acres of chrome, & the way they SMELLED inside-They kept it til '68, & it STILL smelled new inside, despite having almost 100K on it. The '68 was another SDV-but it was that fugly "Avocado" color-Inside & out-that was SO big in the late Sixties. Compared to the "Brass-Band" '60, the '68 had NO sex whatsoever, almost seemed like it was ashamed of being a Caddy... My granparents could have gotten a '68 Chevy Biscayne, it made about the same statement, & saved themselves a BUNCH of money....

I can't decide between the 59 or 60 as my favorite vintage Caddy. The 60 has some great looking lines.

I really like the 56 and 57 models too, almost bought a 56 Sedan DeVille last year.
 
Oh, I'd gone w/the '56 SDV, no question. They were better built cars, the 1957-64 models had the infamous "X-Frame", weren't nearly the equal of either the earlier cars, or the latter ones. I think the 1954-56 series models were about the prettiest of ALL the Fifties Cads, even if they did kinda remind you of a fat girl in a strapless dress...

About 30 yrs. ago I responded to a local ad for a '47 one-owner sedan. I drove out to the country to meet the seller and the car was, as advertized, a beaut. It was used as a kind of "Driving Miss Daisy" deal, an older lady owned it and was chauffered in it until she passed. I really liked the car and tried bargaining on price with the seller, who had just bought it from the estate. He wouldn't budge on price, though. I told him I couldn't meet his price and we talked cars and Caddy's for a bit. He then asked me if I wanted to see the other Caddy's that he had in the barn and of course I accepted. When he rolled back the door to the first pole barn, my knees buckled.

Get this, in two large pole barns this gent had stored almost every classic Caddy Cadillac/LaSalle and LaSalle's from the start of their production. I saw firetrucks, limos. coupes, sedans, probably the most complete collection of Cadillac and LaSalle in exsistence. I would estimate more than 200 cars and trucks. The guy told me that he had scoured the Midwest for any classic Cadillac and related parts for the last 40 yrs.. It was an awesome collection. I don't know if you ever heard of this guy but his name was Roger Oestreich. Unfortunately, a few years later, the barns burnt to the ground and the collection was lost. I just feel lucky to have been able to see it.

Thanks for posting some great cars there that 1957 Biarritz must be worth a small
fortune around $200k or more easily ? Your 62 coupe is impressive .

At the right venue, $200K for the '57 seems about about right- perhaps even a bit more.

the early 60s black car has what appear to be similar to the pontiac eight lug wheels. did cadillac offer such a beast? or did the owner add those?
 
No, they're stock wheelcovers- not wheels. The Pontiac 8-lug wheel was very similar however.

*61 & '62 Caddy wheelcovers were also color-keyed to the body. N/S if Pontiac also did that...
