These are my first CV speakers also my first type of speaker with horns as the midrange and tweeter drivers. Never dabbled with horns so this will be new to me. Hooked 1 up and was impressed with the sound but found I needed to tame the treble some. I'll have to see when the foam arrives and the speakers are set up. Then I will make a judgment. Super excited to get these up and running. Cant believe someone plugged these into a wall lolol. Huge magnets on the speakers.
It is working. Your tweeter is actually a super tweeter that goes really high in the frequency range. I thought both of my tweeters were out on my 317p’s until I listened closely and unplugged the mid horn.
About plugging them into the wall... that was a rumor though a popular one at the time. They were known as big, loud party speakers that would go all night long and still be good the next day. CV had printed on the shipping boxes, 'loud is good if it's clean'... I think those were the exact words. I'm waiting to hear your thoughts when the woofers are done... if memory served me well the listening experience was greatly affected by their distance from the back wall, the R standing for reflecting, the rearward firing horn.
Yes that is really what I ment. I have seen pictures of the horn systems; nothing like these but for me, they are my only metal horn speakers I have. The rest have dome tweeters.
Thanks for that info. Didn't know that about the tweeters however, there is for some issue with the control dial. Its not passing signal through.
Haha I can see how a rumor like that would get around. They are huge speakers, can see why they are loud. Just using the one sounded pretty good, but its just in the middle of the floor, not up against a wall. I did read that placement is key. Someone posted something about that form a flyer. I plan on having them in a corner at an angle.
I actually did have it hooked up that way but the tweeters were just fully on. The control had no affect on them
Thank you for your feedback. I have read conflicting articles about replacing. I just am going to do it since it made yours sound better. I too am playing around with the positioning of these. My first speakers with a set of rear speakers. I feel I have heard the dimensional sound at times but not all the time I think I need to keep adjusting their position till I get it right. Kind of agree with you as well. You said they are your most listened to speakers. I can see why. The sound they produce is different from any other speaker I have heard. Very efficient speakers. Makes me wonder how their other speakers sound. I can see why they are known for bass. Its bass galore with these. But good bass.

Thanks so much for that information. Yes they are a pair that I am keeping now. Just overall impressed with these. Still cant get over the bass from these especially on a ported system.
