Cerwin Vega advise.....anyone!

Hello friends! I know that there is a lot of love (and other) for the Vegas here. I plan on stringing a little run together at the Vega line. Maybe bring in 6-8 pair for a little "testing". So far i have AT-15's and AT 12's on the way. I also have a pair of LS-10's but they are bit too small for me. I am mainly going for 12's and 15's and dual 15's. I have a Crown Macro Reference 1 i use to drive. It is rated at 750wpc @ 8 ohms.

I know there are tons of models that fit my criteria. Anyone care to steer me toward the best of them? Away from the worst. Are the 80's/90's versions the best?

Check out the 15-TR or 12-TR. I thought I was over CV but that model is really a cut above all the stuff that came after.

As far as the 2x-15" CV goes it'll likely be a toss-up between the CLS & the XLS.

And ask me the E series should definitely be in the mix as well (E-312/E-315 & E-712/E-715).

Then you have the vintage D- & DX- series speakers that should be represented as well (D-5/D-7/D-9).

LS-12 & LS-15 would likely be beat by any of the above,but for a budget option they could do in a pinch.

There are others,but I'll let the others chime in here with their recommendations on those.

That's the thing about Cerwin Vega, they were a bit inconsistent just like Pioneer. Kind of a hit and miss to make a profit. But I will tell you that set up to acquire a detailed sound that isnt over ridden with bass is a challenge for most, that's why so many are indifferent about CV's. Now if you can find the Cerwin Vega AT-100 that was made in the early nineties you will find an entirely different sound, they are a European spec speaker. I think the best CV's are from the late eighties to the early nineties.
