i haven't heard CV in a long time. somehow i always thought that CV's have cheap sound....i don't know why. but recently, i had a chance to restore a vintage model, and while i was testing it afterwards, i couldn't help but notice extra ump in the bass. man, they shake and rattle the walls! it almost feels like i'm pushed away by the air from the woofers and i can almost feel the air around me move...or am i high on glue fumes?

What models are you sportin' there, gogofast?

I've got a set of vintage Cerwin Vega HED CV-3000s that perform well as both party speakers and mid to loud volume rock & roll speakers. My vintage rock vinyl sounds great on these- Black Sabbath, KISS, Iron Maiden. Used with either my Sansui 317 amp or Kenwood KA-5700 amp. One of my favorite pairs of speakers. For low to moderate level listening, and listening to jazz, americana blues, country, and bluegrass I love what's known as the "east coast sound" style of speakers and switch over accordingly, running through the Sansui 317 and a Marantz 1060.

phew, yep, it was the fume......damn.
no i'm just kidding. it does sound really good, people.
i was playing some acid beats on them together with coral speakers, and as soon as i turn the CV off, coral sounds like a couple of mice playing bongos. really.

For rock they well rock ;)

Don't listen to Russ or Tent and the other vinyl playing Diana Krall listening pansies :D They should just go buy a Bose wave radio and pump their jazz tunes through that

Thor,

If you can find any Dianna Krall (or Ozzy Osbourne, for that matter) in either one of my houses, I'll carry that Miata back to Maine on my back.

I am a mild CV fan . . . have their flagship 200-15's that I bought for $250 from a rep trying to get the line in our store when I was in college . . .the are probably from 1984-85. Have had to refoam the woofer . . .otherwise a very nice big speaker.
