Cerwin Vega RE-30's

Recently picked up a rough pair of CV RE-30's for a friend, the cabinets are in chitty condition to say the least, but one of the tweeters is bad and we are looking to replace it. I ordered a pair of Dayton audio 1 1/8 inch tweets, but they are not powerful enough, and are about triple the depth of the stock ones. Any ideas, minus chucking the speakers, for new tweeters, that aren't the CV harshness that they are known for, but are also cheap?
