Cerwin Vega

I picked up a Cerwin Vega HT-10D passive sub-woofer for $20. It's in great condition and I had to have it if for nothing else novelty. I know nothing about the workings of a passive other than the basic connections from the L/R main. Has anyone used this or have any experience with it? Would it be worth incorporating into my HT system? I am using an el cheapo Sony powered sub running from my Denon 3802 now. My main speakers are a set of AR-58S' that take the Denon's AV signal through a pioneer C/M-90 combo (200 watts @ 8 ohm) and the bass is great as is. Would the Cerwin Vega's crossover allow for the AR's to work properly?

I think that is the same sub that my cousin has. It sounds good but if you hook speakers up to it it filters the lows on the speakers so it isnt a pass through design. Him and i were talking about taking the terminal out cutting the hole bigger and adding a bash plate amp or whatever amp is cheap and decent from parts express. Should be an easy upgrade and with the cerwin vegas efficiency you shouldnt have to throw too many watts at it for it to be a good sounding sub.

Either way with his cheap rca reciever it sounds pretty good.

I agree with adding a plate amp. Ive got a powered ht 12d sub. Bigger brother to the one you guys are talking about.

Unfortunatly i cant get the phase right to match my mains and surrounds. Though they hardly need a sub to augment them. But it would be useful at below 40 hurtz.

I connected the Cerwin Vega HT-10D to the mains comming off my Pioneer M-90. The sound does pass through to my AR-58s'. Their is nothing dramatic as far as the passive sub is concerned. Does anyone know the specific crossover specs on the HT-10D?
