Champagne engraved front panels

How do you tell that you have a champagne engraved front panel?

I have a model 24 tuner/preamp and when I compare it to my 2245 it is a little darker.... and when you run your finger over the letters they appear raised on the 24 and flat on the 2245........ I can't tell by looking at the 24 whether the letters are engraved or not....

Every engraved face I have seen, you could easily tell that the face was stamped and printed inside the stamping. Non-engraved, the lettering is clearly sitting on top of the metal.

Thanks all.... I'll shine some light on it see if it is or isn't.... My 1200 looks like the one above.... but the 24 looks and feels somewhere in between the engraved above and the silkscreened 1200.... Did Marantz do some that were painted on not silkscreened... ?

I used to sell this equipment in the 60s and 70s and don't remember ever noticing or questioning the front panel color or printing....

I just checked my 1200 (running a finger across the lettering) and it has the raised lettering as well.... compared to the 2245 which is flat to the metal front panel....

I think different stampings had different depths of the offset. I recently purchased a 2230, serial number 1309. The script at the top ends, "Model 2230" and "Stereophonic Receiver", are clearly engraved with little inspection. But the big "Marantz" logo looks to be on the surface at first glance, but when you inspect it, you can see that the ink almost fills the engraving and there is barely an edge that can be felt.
