Hello, does anyone have a dual 1009 changer spindle for sale with good, non-brittle rubber for sale? Also will spindle for other dual series work with the 1009. Thanks. I have a spindle but the rubber is completely gone. I hesitate to fix it myself but also am reluctant to put much money in it, as I've already have pumped too much dough into the 1009 to get it in working condition.

Well, in allmost all cases the rubbers have all gone over the decades. If you are not too clumsy, you could use bits of silicone tube to fix it. The tricky part is the right size. The length and width can be easily determined by the "cutout" of the spindle, the height has to match exactly. Retracted the rubbers should flush into the spindle.

Pm me. I may have a tall spindle that fits a 1009. Don't use them except my fat 45 spindle. Came with one of my 1000 series Dual's.

The perfect material for those missing rubber pieces is a vacuum cleaner belt. You can find them at thrift stores for 25 cents. If you don't see them, ask. Someone in the back will have a box of them under a bench I'll bet. Just get the right thickness belt and cut slightly tapered pieces to fit. Clean the area on the spindle thoroughly with a q-tip and alcohol. Glue with super glue gel. You MUST use the gel, not the thin, watery regular super glue as it will migrate into the spindle mechanism and ruin it. I have done a number of these repairs over the years and they all work perfectly and none have failed yet.
